Hatra Aram, a Sahrawi human rights activist, delivered a powerful video statement to Equipe Media, outlining the plight of the Sahrawi people under Moroccan occupation.
She spoke of the marginalization, exclusion, and poverty that her people face, and the ongoing plunder of Western Sahara’s resources. Aram also highlighted the plight of Sahrawi youth, who are often unjustly imprisoned for speaking out against the occupation.
She called on the international community to take action to end the Moroccan occupation and allow the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.»
In her impassioned plea, Hatra Aram also directly addressed the European Commission and UNSC, urging them to intervene and hold Morocco accountable for its ongoing plunder of Western Sahara’s resources.
She emphasized that this plundering serves to perpetuate the occupation and maintain the status quo, preventing the Sahrawi people from deriving any benefits from their own natural wealth.
