London, 26 December 2019 (SPS) – Leader of the British labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, has reaffirmed his party’s support for the right of the Sahrawi people and solidary with its just struggle, in a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 15th General Congress of the Polisario Front held in the liberated town of Tifariti from 19 to 23 December.
“I am pleased to send solidarity greetings from the Labour Party to the Polisario Front on the occasion of your General Congress this December,” said Mr. Corbyn.
“I have long been a supporter of the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination, and we are proud to count the Polisario as a sister party to labour.”
“We included our support for the rights of the Saharawi people in the Labour Party manifesto for the recent general election, and we were very happy to host a speaker from Western Sahara on the platform at our most recent party conference in Brighton.”
“We will continue to stand in solidarity with the Saharawi people in you struggle for justice, and with the Polisario Front as the official voice of the Saharawi people. I wish you a successful Congress,” he added. (SPS)
