During this national day, an overview of the human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara will be presented, highlighting the repression and violations faced by the Sahrawi people at the hands of Moroccan repressive forces. It is also an occasion to demand the disclosure of all Sahrawi prisoners and missing persons.
Additionally, there will be an emphasis on the pivotal and significant role played by peaceful resistance, as well as raising the level of challenge and escalating courageous confrontations, particularly in light of the intensifying conflict with the Moroccan occupation amidst the situation of war.
The President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, issued a decree on May 21, 2019, “designating November 8 as the National Day of the Sahrawi Civil Prisoner, to be commemorated annually with activities and events overseen by the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.”
