Bir-Lahlou (Liberated Areas), 16 March, 2020 (SPS) – President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Mr. Brahim Ghali, chaired, on Monday in the liberated region of Bir-Lahlou, the constitutive session of the newly elected National Council, according to the constitution and law of the Sahrawi Republic, in its 11th tenure.
The National Committee for the Election of Members of the National Council had announced the final results, after which preparations would be made for the establishment of the National Council in its new tenure and legal and constitutional deadlines.
The constitutive session of the National Council, which is attended by the newly elected deputies by their electoral constituencies, will witness the election of the Speaker of the National Council, in order for the work of the legislative institution to be launched to fulfill the role assigned to it constitutionally in the integration and harmony with the rest of the bodies and institutions of the Sahrawi state.
The President of the Republic is accompanied, in his visit in the liberated region of Bir-Lahlou, by members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the government, the staff of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army. (SPS)
