Niamey, Niger, July 7, 2019 (SPS) – President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Ghali, has been received by President of Niger, Mr. Mahamadou Issoufou, as part of his reception to heads of state and delegations attending the 12th Extraordinary Summit of the African Union.
The Summit will mark the entry into force of the Agreement on the Establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and will formally launch the operational phase of the African Internal Market.
On the of the event, the President of the Republic held meetings with African leaders and officials, focused on the Sahrawi issue and the role and responsibilities of the international community in enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination as well as the African role in the process of decolonization of Western Sahara as the last colony in Africa.
