Tenerife (Canary Islands) January 27, 2018 (SPS) – The Sahrawi community in Tenerife organized, on Saturday at the headquarters of the Canarian Association of Solidarity with the Sahrawi people, a solidarity platform with Sahrawi student and activist Hussein Ould Bashir Ould Brahim who was forcibly repatriated by the Spanish authorities to Morocco.
The solidarity platform was attended by the representative of the Polisario Front in the Canary Islands, Hamdi Mansour, members of the Sahrawi Community, and representatives of the Saharawi People’s friends and civil society associations.
The participants expressed their condemnation of the Spanish authorities’ denial of the norms and laws that govern the respect of the right of asylum in their territory by individuals who resort to it to escape repression and persecution.
They also condemned the handing over of the Sahrawi student to the Moroccan authorities, which put him in Loudaya prison in Marrakech, demanding the Spanish authorities to open an investigation into this first of its kind incident. (SPS)
