Yokohama (Japan), August 31, 2019 (SPS) – President of Republic, Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, Brahim Ghali, said Friday in Yokohama, Japan, that his country’s participation at the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) is an «important asset in the process of incarnation of the Saharawi State status at the international level.»
In a press statement on the sidelines of Yokohama summit, President Ghali said «the Saharawi Republic’ attendance is an important asset in the process of incarnation of the Saharawi State status both within the African union and worldwide, and is also a major change in the relations between the international community and the SADR.»
«In spite of attempts to prevent the SADR» from attending (the TICAD 7), «we are here, taking part in the summit.»
President Ghali said «partners are dealing with the Saharawi Republic in the summit as they do with the other participants.»
«Africa’s development needs a just peace,» he said, adding that «no development is possible without peace or stability, and the world must focus efforts on the African continent to impose a fair and lasting peace, in line with the international resolutions and the international legitimacy.»
In addition to his participation in the works of the summit, the Sahrawi president has held many bilateral meetings, in Yokohama, with a number of African leaders.
During the meetings, he discussed «the ways and methods to improve bilateral relations between the Saharawi Republic and its African friends.» (SPS)
