Smara (Sahrawi refugee camps), Sept 13, 2017 (SPS) – The representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF-Algeria) Marc Lucet gave Tuesday the broad lines, in the refugee camps of Smara, of a strategy of the UNICEF to support education and teaching in the Sahrawi refugee camps, in coordination with the different partners and donors.
This strategy, launched in the beginning of 2017 and spreading over a period of four years, targets the rehabilitation of education facilities and strengthening of educational system and teaching of children in the refugee camps, Lucet told APS in a symbolic ceremony of presenting school stationary items to pupils of primary school M’barek Hebila.
Leading a delegation made up of different UN organizations, the representative of UNICEF-Algeria said that this strategy comprises notably the reconstruction of several schools listed by UNICEF in coordination with the Sahrawi authorities, after the bad weather affecting the region in 2015.
Through this programme, more than 1,700 executives of the sector of education and teachers will receive continuous training, including more than 80% of female volunteers, added the source.SPS
