Algiers, October 15, 2020 (SPS) –- Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek said the UN Security Council and France bear the full responsibility for the stalemate in the settlement process of the Saharawi cause and decolonization of the last colony in Africa.
Ould Salek told Channel One of the national radio that «the stalemate comes from within the Security Council, more precisely, France, which is blocking peace in the region.»
Faced with Morocco’s ongoing hindrance activity and the inability of MINURSO (UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) to force Morocco to commit to the agreed-upon settlement plan, the head of Saharawi diplomacy did not rule out the use of the «right to self-defense by concluding Defence Pacts, a right recognized by the Constitution of the African Union (AU).»
The Saharawi State and its leaders, led by Saharawi President Brahim Gali, point the finger at France, which is obstructing the UN settlement process in Western Sahara, and holds the Security Council responsible for the status quo in the process. SPS
