Shaheed El-Hafed (Refugee Camp), Feb 2, 2018 (SPS) – Over 50 Sahrawi and international organizations are to hold an International Conference on «Civilian Resistance to the Moroccan Occupation» in late February.
The Conference, which will be hosted by the Sahrawi Refugee Camps aims at «defining a new strategy for the peaceful civilian resistance to allow the Sahrawi people to snatch their right to self-determination and independence.
According to the organizers, this conference will see historical participation of hundreds of human rights activists and experts from many countries, namely Palestine, South Africa, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and others who will elaborate a peaceful, efficient and overall campaign based on a common vision of all the organizations that support the Sahrawi people to reinforce the solidarity movement between the Sahrawi people and the international players.
Besides, workshops and conferences will be held during this three- day meeting (25, 26 and 27 February) for the preparation of a common action plan to launch civilian peaceful resistance against the Moroccan occupation.
In addition, the conference will examine three main questions, namely the conditions for the success of civilian resistance, the presentation of examples of peaceful civil disobedience, especially against the Apartheid regime in South Africa and the development of a new strategy for resistance to the Moroccan occupation.
