Brasilia, Brazil, March 29, 2018 (SPS) – A new association of solidarity with the Sahrawi people was established on Tuesday, 27 March 2018, in the presence of Frente POLISARIO representative in Brazil, Embarek Ahmed, who gave an extensive presentation on the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue, in Brazil.
The former Brazilian MP, Ms. Maria José, was appointed as the President of the Association, Mr. Marcos Tenorio as Vice-President of the Assembly and Mr. Fernando as secretary.
The Brazilian Association has outlined the main objectives to achieve notably spreading the just struggle of the Sahrawi people and the harsh reality of Saharawi people in refugee camps and in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
It will also work towards the respect of international legality on the question of Western Sahara through the application of relevant United Nations resolutions, with special attention to the gravity of the human rights situation in Occupied Territories of Western Sahara, where ongoing human rights violations are taking place under a security and media siege, and the issue of the plundering of the wealth of Saharawi people.
