Bir Lehlou (Liberated Zones), June 5, 2016 (SPS) – The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front established Saturday a national preparatory committee for the holding of an extraordinary congress to elect a secretary general of the Polisario Front, to succeed the late Mohammed Abdel-Aziz.
The National Secretariat said in a statement Sunday that it was «in accordance with article 61 of the Constitution and articles 47 and 48 of the Basic Law» to appoint member of the National Secretariat, in charge of the Secretariat of the Political Organization, Mr. Ibrahim Ghali, as its Chairperson.
Mr. Khatri Adouh, speaker of the National Council, acting Secretary-General of the Polisario Front and the President of the Republic, had presided over the meeting in the liberated town of Bir Lehlou, immediately after the funeral of the late Mohamed Abdelaziz.
On this occasion, the National Secretariat made an appeal to Sahrawi nationals to adhere to national unity, enhance the struggle to complete the liberation of the entire national territory, stick to the Polisario front, and maintain general mobilization to thwart intrigues and manoeuvres of the Moroccan occupier.
