Bir Lehlu (liberated territories), July 4, 2016 (SPS) – The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front met Sunday in special session to examine the preparations for the extraordinary congress of Martyr Mohamed Abdelaziz, to be held in the wilaya of Dakhla on 8-9 July, under the slogan «Strength, determination and will to enforce independence and sovereignty.»
Meeting under the chairmanship of the president of the Republic, Khatri Abdulai, the National Secretariat has noted progress at the national level, including the alert situation and recent victories on the external front, which strengthened the position of the Saharawi question on the international stage, according to a press release.
The National Secretariat reviewed the report of the preparatory committee of the congress of Martyr Mohamed Abdelaziz, hailing the progress of the work of the committees in charge of political conferences for the election of local and regional representatives to participate in the congress.
It also praised the level of responsibility and maturity shown by the Saharawi people in this difficult stage and its readiness for the success of congress of Martyr Mohamed Abdelaziz.
The National Secretariat further asserted that all the conditions are met for the holding of the congress, which will see a wide international participation of large delegations including heads of government and parliament, political parties, organizations, associations, personalities and media from all world continents.
The National Secretariat discussed the issue of the agenda of the extraordinary congress, in accordance with rules of the Polisario Front and approved by consensus the choice for the candidate for the secretary general of the Polisario Front and the President of the Republic.
It finally appealed to the Sahrawis to meet the challenge and to unite around their legitimate representative the Polisario Front in order to abort manoeuvres of the Moroccan occupation and achieve the aspirations of the Sahrawi people to freedom and independence. (SPS)
