Jon Faine’s co-host is Prof Damien Kingsbury. He holds a Personal Chair in International Politics at Deakin University where he is Director of the Master of International and Community Development.
Their first guest is Western Sahara human rights advocate Tecber Ahmed Saleh, who works for the Ministry of Health in Saharawi refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria (where she was born). You can hear her in a panel discussion on Sarahawi Rights & Recognition at The Institute of Postcolonial Studies in North Melbourne tomorrow (Thur 12 Sept 2019) at 7:30pm.
Then they are joined by Jean McAuslan and Yasser Qaso. Yasser came to Melbourne as a refugee from Syria (where he was a dentist), and is studying to become an interpreter. Jean is stepping down as lead curator and head of access and learning at The Shrine after 11 years. Her final exhibition, Changed Forever: Legacies of Conflict, includes Yasser’s story. The exhibition is on at The Shrine of Remembrance until 14th October. It will then tour across Victoria.
